Introduction


Corporate Social Responsibility is a concept wherein companies attempt to amalgamate their social & environmental issues in their operations & shareholders interactions. There should be a balance among the environmental, social and economic together with satisfying the expectations of the stakeholders of the company by its socially responsible actions (Aguinis, 2010).  There are a lot of damage which the companies do to the environment and its surrounding. Hence, it is their responsibility to give it back to the environment.

The main idea of corporate social responsibility is to put the interest of the collective above an individual. It also requires an ownership to take care of the future which includes operating with utter responsibility towards the upcoming generation which is again closely linked to nature.

Previously, companies had its focus on the profitability of the company rather than the betterment of society.  These days, companies ought to begin engaging in more social causes. Hence, in order to ensure sustainable development of society, companies must engage in activities for the betterment of society like corporate social responsibility activities (Asemah, 2013).

The research topic for the study is “Impact of CSR on corporate in Australia”

The objective of the research is to study Impact of CSR on corporate in Australia. There are many implications of CSR on a company. The objectives of the research are laid in such a way so that clarity can be obtained on the impact of CSR on company. The major objectives of the research are as follows:

  • To have an idea about how CSR can benefit society

  • To understand how triple bottom line approach helps company

  • To understand how CSR can affect a company

  • To understand the advantages and disadvantage of CSR for corporate

  • To understand the elements which are affected by CSR

  • To understand the impact of CSR on value chain of company

  • To understand the type of opportunity associated with CSR for the company

The research questions which need to be answered by means of this study are as follows:
  • What is the scope of CSR

  • How CSR can benefit society

  • How does triple bottom line approach helps the company

  • How CSR can affect a company

  • What are the advantages and disadvantage of CSR for corporate

Justification for Research Topic


Companies have started working towards improving the environment. It is because of the reason that companies have damaged the environment and society because of their business operation.  Hence, the companies have stated involving in corporate social responsibility to benefit all of its stakeholders. They take steps to support environment and society at large. It is necessary for the people and corporate to behave responsibly for instance, companies should focus on reducing their carbon footprint (Badiru, 2008).

CSR aims at contributing to economic development of the corporate and economy along with improving the living standard of the workforce and their families along with the local community and society as a whole by means of continuous commitment by companies to abide by the business ethics. There are many benefits of CSR which can interest the top management of the company. The company can benefit with the wellbeing of others as it benefit the employees of the company, it helps in the company’s marketing strategy etc. Hence, studying the impact of corporate social responsibility becomes important. Now most of the companies are becoming socially responsible and they try to take steps to improve the social, economical, environmental impact of its operation (Baron, 2010).

Corporate social responsibility has been a compliance requirement for many companies. Hence, it is important to understand its impact on the company.  Every corporate tries to stand out of the crowd by applying certain strategies and tactics corporate get increased media coverage when they are involved in CSR activity. It is like cheap publicity for the corporate. Most of the time, media tend to cover philanthropic activities of the corporate leading to positive publicity of the company. This provides a competitive edge to the organisation which makes it crucial for us to study all the effects of CSR on the organisation (Johnson, Craig, 2009).

Duration of the project


The duration of the project is 13 weeks. There are multiple things which needs to be accomplished in these 13 weeks for the research

The tentative idea of how the project will progress in these 13 weeks is as follow:

Week 3-5: Literature Review

Week 6-7: Data Collection

Week 8-10: Data Analysis

Week 11: Finding and recommendation

With the help of this research, we have expected to understand the impact of CSR on the company. There are various benefits of CSR to the organisation like positive publicity of the company, employee retention, partner retention, increased sales as a result of improved image of company etc.

CSR activities involve high investment by the company but the tangible and intangible return of corporate social responsibility on the company is very high. All the benefits of CSR to the company and its value chain can be highlighted with the help of this study.
